Sand, Turbidex and other medias are used to trap particles which can then periodically be backwashed away.

Iron & Manganese

Water Filtration Iron & Manganese

Iron and manganese are commonly found in waters. They can cause unsightly staining and can cause health problems. They can be removed by cataltyitic oxidation or ion exchange methods.

pH (increase) Systems

Water filtration 4pH (increase) Systems

Water in which the pH is below 7 is acidic which can cause pipework corrosion, staining of baths and sinks and can leave a distinctive metallic taste. Raising the pH above 7 reduces the problems and makes the water more palatable.

Arsenic Reduction Filters

Arsenic Reduction Filters

Arsenic is found in waters in many parts of Ireland. The Arsenic comes from the underground rocks through which the ground water percolates. The legal limit is 10ug/ll. The arsenic can be reduced with specially formulated filter media.

Nitrate Reduction Filters

Water Filtration Iron & Manganese

Iron and manganese are commonly found in waters. They can cause unsightly staining and can cause health problems. They can be removed by cataltyitic oxidation or ion exchange methods.

Carbon Filters

Water Filtration Carbon Filters

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filters are an excellent choice for removal of chlorine, taste and odour, or organics in water. Some types will even reduce metals. There are many variations but most based on coconut, coal, wood or bone.

Colour Removal Filters

Water Filtration Colour Removal

Colour in water is normally due to iron and manganese or organic tannins (often from peaty water). If the colour is due to tannins the colour can be reduced by specialised ion exchange resins.

Hydrogen Sulphide Reduction

Hydrogen Sulphide Reduction

Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) is a gas which if dissolved in water smells like rotten eggs.

Rain water passing through the layers of soil and rock absorb mineral salts. In many cases these minerals cause water to become ‘hard’, causing (lime) scale in pipes and domestic appliances, steam boilers, humidifying systems, cooling towers, dishwashers and washing machines. Ion exchange water softeners remove this water hardness stopping scale build up. Water softeners can be small under the sink domestic softeners or large industrial systems.

Coral Water Softener

Coral Water Softener

10 and 15 litre softeners, time and metered. Our most popular domestic water softener featuring the very reliable WRAS approved Autotrol valve.
Available in Granite finish.
New water saving and high flow versions available.

Micro Water Softener

Micro Water Softener

A neat and ultra small softener for very small houses or single applications. Uses WRAS approved Autotrol valve.
4 litre model time or metered
Size: 520mm (h) by 195mm (w) by 430 (d)

Swan Water Softener

Swan Water Softener

This is a large water softener ideal for B&Bs, pubs and offices. It contains up to 35 litres of resin allowing a flow rate of up to 4000 l/hr and giving 5800 litres of softened water between regenerations (based on 300 mg/l hardness). Uses the WRAS approved Autotrol valves.

Delta Non Electric Water Softener

Delta Non Electric Water Softener

This sytlish and ulta compact non electric single tank softener which fits in the smallest spaces and will be at home in any modern kitchen application

Simplex Water Softeners

Simplex Water Softeners

These Simplex water softeners use high quality vessels and superior softening resin. The units are controlled with a multiport valve on top of the vessel allowing automatic regeneration.
Systems can regenerate after a given time (time) or quantity of water (metered).

Systems range in size from 500 l/ per hour to 50,000 litres per hour.

Duplex Water Softeners

Duplex Water Softeners

Duplex water softeners consist of two vessels filled with softening resin. In normal use one vessel is online (duty) while the other is off line (standby).

Systems range in size from 500 l/ per hour to 50,000 litres per hour

The effect of UV light on bacteria, viruses, spores and moulds has been known to science for many years. The shortwave ultraviolet energy is lethal to micro-organisms as the UV rays penetrate the cell membranes and destroy the DNA inside the cell, effectively destroying the organism and it’s ability to reproduce. Ultraviolet disinfection is extremely fast, it requires no chemicals or additives and cannot be overdosed. No chemical residuals are left in the treated water. The UV intensity (dose) is measured in mJ/cm2. For domestic situations UV systems should give at least 30 mJ/cm2 and for larger industrial systems 40 mJ/cm2. The dose required to inactivate bacteria depends on the bacteria. The higher the dose of UV the more of each bacteria are killed.

Typical dose to inactivate 99% (log 2) of bacteria are listed below:
Crytosporidium parvum 4.9 mJ/cm2
Clostridium perfingens 8.4 mJ/cm2
Giardia lambia <5 mJ/cm2
Vibro cholerae (cholera) 1.4 mJ/cm2
Shingela dysenteriae 1.2 mJ/cm2
Escherichia coli (E Coli) 2.8 mJ/cm2
Salmonella typhi 4.8 mJ/cm2
Legionella pneumophila 5 mJ/cm2
Poliovirus typ 1 14 mJ/cm2
Campylobacter jejuni 3.4 mJ/cm2
